how could i build a high horsepower elfin block ford for an affordable price?

i could spend like 2000 dollars on the motor and trans to make a competent drain truck out of a 64 f-100. i have a 302 motor i would like to build to race with. i might be able to spend a little more but not much. i would matching to run 12's or so. the motor is a 87 302 roller motor and a 78 C4 trans behind if with a 9" ford rearend with 3.55 gears

Customarily nitrous is the best bang for the buck, headers, new intake and carb. You'll also have to upgrade the suspension. The old saying is, "Stimulant costs money, how fast do you want to go?" The origional brakes would have been for the origional 200hp engine, upgrade this also. Traction will be difficult, use traction bars 'cus spring wrap was horrible on these.
